The inaugural Science Communication Conference, which replaces
the former Building Bridges conference, was organised by the BA
in association with Copus—The Science Communication Partnership.
The conference took place at the Institute of Electrical Engineers
on 30 and 31 May 2002.
The aim of the conference was to present a more inclusive look
at ways of communicating science to a variety of audiences by bringing
together practitioners and academics (social scientists and scientists)
interested in science communication.
This report of the conference, commissioned by Copus from Alice
Bell, reviews the presentations and the subsequent discussions,
and summarises the thought-provoking questions that emerged as a
result.
Presentation documents from the individual speakers are available
through the
BA website - select Science Communication Conference from the
drop-down list.
