Local postal strikes
3 November 2003, 16:30

The Royal Mail have advised us that collections and deliveries in all areas of the UK affected by the local unofficial industrial action will resume shortly. The Royal Mail has advised us that it may take two-to-three weeks to clear the backlog of mail.

The closing date for the Copus Grant Schemes 2003/4 remains as stated in the application materials: 6pm local time on Monday 10 November 2003.

Due to the exceptional nature of this strike, we will accept applications sent First Class via Royal Mail that are postmarked on or prior to Friday 7 November 2003, and applications sent Second Class via Royal Mail that are postmaked on or prior to Wednesday 5 November 2003, even if they are delivered to us after the deadline.

We ask that applicants submitting their applications by Royal Mail from today onwards use a service such as Special Delivery or Recorded Delivery, and follow the recommendations published on the Royal Mail website.

Deliveries in person and by courier are also accepted, and these may be made to the reception at 7 Carlton House Terrace, or outside of business hours, to the letterbox at the entrance to 6 Carlton House Terrace.

Supporting statements:

The Supporting Statement Form must be enclosed with the application. We will accept Supporting Statement Forms that have been faxed from the Supporter to the Applicant. Supporting Statement Forms must NOT be faxed directly to us.

The Copus Grant Schemes are funded by the Office of Science and Technology and The Royal Society.
